Nuclear tracks detector’s with using a new calibration optical system for the measurement of Radon (Rn)

There are several methods for the measurement of radon concentration or exposure, that use nuclear tracks detectors lodged into dosemeters with different geometries. It was necessary to determinate some calibration parameters of the new detector’s optical system in order to characterize instead of a semicylindrical a cylindrical dosemeter was used in this investigation. The new system we used is called TASL (Track Analysis System Limited) and it’s able to read the nuclear particle tracks of CR-39 type detectors. CR-39 is an amorphous thermoset plastic commercially available and optically clear in which nuclear particle tracks can be revealed by hot NaOH etching solution.
